She was an exceptional student and went on to earn her Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in English from Pepperdine University.Īfter completing her education, Draper spent several years teaching in public schools, where she became a National Teacher of the Year in 1997. Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1952, Draper grew up in a family that placed a high value on education and literature.
